History

Good Samaritan Association /GSA/ is a local non-governmental and non-profitable organization, which is also one of the members of the Union of Ethiopian Women Charitable Association /UEWCA/. The organization was established in 1996 by Ethiopian professionals whom some of them have immense and rich experiences in developed countries and dedicated to development schemes which are targeting the improvement of the life of the Ethiopian women and marginalized section of the population that suffer from abject poverty.

GSA is re-registered as a local NGO by FDRE Charities and Society Agency (with a registration number of 0169).

GSA is an association whose development schemes and activities are geared towards alleviating the plights of very low income women and girls who are victims of international and inland women trafficking, who are exposed to many economic, health and social problems. Other low income community members are also beneficiaries of the services provided by GSA.

GSA is one of the founders and member of Networks of Ethiopian Women Association (NEWA). It is also member of Christian Relief & Development Association (CCRDA),Union of Ethiopian women Charitable associations(UEWCA) and Consortium of Reproductive Health Association (COHRA), Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA), Anti-trafficking taskforce and Migration taskforce of CCRDA, and Network of organizations providing Shelter based services for victims of migration organized by UNODC.

GSA has always been and will continue to work together with grass root community networks as well as relevant governmental and non governmental development actors.
